Business Account Opening

General Overview

The Business Account Opening API allows you to submit business account applications on behalf of your clients in a single API call.

Once submitted, our integration partner — the business account provider — takes over the process. They will contact the applicant directly to complete Know Your Customer (KYC) identity verification, a mandatory step under Australian anti-money laundering legislation. No further action is required from you after submission.

API calls are completely free on all BAPI plans. As a thank-you for each successfully activated account, you will automatically receive an account credit that can be applied to future BAPI charges.

Business Account Opening FAQs

  • Business Account Opening API calls are completely free on all plans - Standard and monthly. There is no charge per submission, and no government fees apply.

  • When a business account application you submitted is successfully activated by the business account provider, a credit will be automatically applied to your BAPI account.

This credit is applied as a thank-you for the referral. It is not withdrawable and has no cash value, but it can be used to offset the cost of any future BAPI API calls - company registrations, ABN applications, business name registrations, and more.

Credits are tracked in your BAPI account and applied automatically at the time of the next chargeable request.

  • Once you submit an application via the API, our integration partner - the business account provider - takes over the process. They will contact the applicant directly by email or SMS to verify their identity and complete any Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.

This step is required under Australian anti-money laundering legislation and is completely handled by the business account provider. The applicant typically only needs a few minutes to complete it.

You can poll the status of any submission at any time using the status endpoint. Once the account is activated, the status will update and any applicable credit will be applied to your account automatically.

  • Yes. Before submitting live applications, you must complete the Business Account Opening onboarding in your BAPI dashboard. This involves reading and signing a short partner agreement that covers data sharing, client consent, and credit terms.

Once signed, your application will be reviewed and approved within 1 business day. Test submissions can be made at any time without completing onboarding.
